Jesmond Parish Church Hockey Club, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, was established by a group from Jesmond Parish Church who loved playing hockey and saw no reason why the church shouldn't support a hockey club. In September 2002, the idea became a reality and JPC entered a Men's team into Div. 5 of the North East Hockey League. So this, the 2012/13 season is our 10th in existence.
Since then the club has gone from strength to strength. Two men’s teams now play weekly in the North East Hockey Leagues and two ladies teams play in the Northumberland Women's Hockey League. The men’s teams play in the Intermediate League 1 and the Club Development League (North). The womens 1st XL now play in the A league having won promotion as champions in the 2011/12 season. The Mens 1 and 2's will be trying for promotion this season.
As a church club it is founded and run on Christian principles but we welcome anyone who is passionate about hockey. Consequently the aim is to play hockey competitively but fairly. As much emphasis is placed on the sportsmanship of the teams as the results of the matches. All are welcomed and encouraged to come and play regardless of background and faith.
