Jesmond Parish Church Hockey Club has two men's teams playing in the North East Hockey League. Men's training takes place on Tuesday evenings from 8-9.30pm at Newcastle Royal Grammar School (view directions).
A hugely successful 2009-2010 season saw the Men's 1st XI gain promotion to the Intermediate League 1 of the North East Hockey League. The team are building on that success and looking for promotion again.
Following a number of years of successful growth, it was apparent that the club was close to being able to field a second team. This would have many benefits for the club, allowing more people to play on Saturdays and accommodating a greater spread of abilities. In particular, this would make the club more welcoming to beginners and less experienced players, who fancied the challenge of competitive league hockey, while creating a further level of support for the 1st XI. Thus the 2nd XI was formed, making their debut in the Conference North in 2006-7 under the captaincy of James Milne. A successful first season saw the team finish comfortably mid-table. Since then the team has grown from strength to strength and are strong favourites for promotion this season
