Find out more about the start of the season

Team,

We're very close to the start of our league season for our senior sections, our junior sections are now up and running - it seems like the perfect time to give everyone an update on what's going on in the club. As ever at the start of the season we need your help in making this a great season for the club. Here's some ways you can help......

- We've got a real need for volunteers to support Andy, Sally and the team in running our Junior sessions at 5.30 and 6.30 on a Tuesday night. Whether you can help weekly, monthly or just on an occasional basis you would be helping us enormously. Any level of hockey experience appreciated - do be in touch if you can help.
- Beyond this there's lots of opportunities this year to develop skills and experience of coaching and umpiring - do speak to Sophie Cassidy or James Milne for more information.
- Parents of senior players, we'd really appreciate some help this year in providing lifts to games where we don't have sufficient drivers, if a few people are willing to help this would mean only needing to support us once or twice a year. Do let me know if you're able to help. Likewise we're moving to a system this year where each team will be providing their own match tea supplied by a different player each week on a rota basis (the Men's 1s will be judging each others contributions in the style of Come Dine With Me). I'm sure captains would really appreciate offers of support with this - there's a £20 budget each week.
- We're aware that we've got a lot less shirts in our kit bag then we should at the minute - as such we're having a shirt amnesty over the next couple of weeks. If you bring one that's been hiding in your cupboard along to your training session this week would help us hugely.
- If you're a senior player please use the relevant section of the website to give your captains as much notice as possible of your availability to help us plan our squads and see ahead if we're going to need to attempt to rearrange our fixtures.
- And lastly for all sections the time is nearly upon us when Membership Payments are due - do use the 'Payments' tab on the website to organise this. It's our expectation that fees are paid before you take part in a league game. We don't want finance to be a reason for folks to miss out on hockey, so do speak to myself or Emma if you need to make alternative arrangements.

Thanks for reading this far - let me leave you with a date for the diaries for all sport lovers - the Jesmond Parish Church Sports Quiz 2017 at the Magpie Suite, St James' Park. Do see the flyer below for more info, this is one of the best sports quizzes I've ever seen - a great mix of questions that offer something for everyone as well as a chance to find out more about what Christians believe.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Thanks,

Jonny
