Jesmond Parish Church hockey club based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne was established by a group of guys from Jesmond Parish Church who love playing hockey and saw no reason why the church shouldn't support a hockey club. In September 2001, the idea became a reality and JPC entered a Men's team into Div. 5 of the North East Hockey League. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength. Two Mens teams now play weekly in Div.3 and the Conference Division of the North East Hockey League, a Ladies team is now entered in the Northumberland Women's Hockey League and mixed hockey teams regularly play and compete in the region.
As a church club it is founded and run on Christian principles. Consequently the aim is to play hockey competitively but fairly. As much emphasis is placed on the sportsmanship of the teams as the results of the matches. All are welcomed and encouraged to come and play regardless of background and faith.
