Hard lesson

After winning the first 3 games of the season an understrength JPC faced a more difficult and skilled opponent in Durham Uni 4s.

Straight from the off Durham put JPC under pressure with Jonny Greenshields being forced to make numerous saves throughout the day. Within 10 minutes Durham had scored 2 goals and JPC were struggling to get out of their half. As halftime approached Durham managed to score a third goal to make the deficit 3-0.

After stirring words from Nick Heyward JPC started the second half strongly and did not concede any goals from open play for the remainder of the game....

As the game wore on JPCs defense became tired from 55 minutes of hard defending and conceded 3 short corners late, all expertly put away by Durham.

When it seemed there was going to be nothing to show from their effort JPC finally earned the true moral victory in the game. 6-0 with 2 minutes to play Craig Duffy stole the ball on the half way line and played a beautiful 1-2 with Steve Allen. Craig raced past the left back before putting a fantastic ball across the D for Michael Davison to slot under the keep on the reverse. Cheers all round, though sadly time expired before the comeback could be finished. 6-1 but plenty of work for next week.

Special shout outs to Nick Craig and Steven for running hard in the midfield all day, so much so that Nick had to spend the last 10 minutes gasping for air on the sideline. Thanks to Jonny for keeping the score in single figures and a deserved man on the match for Craig for an excellent midfield performance. Back to winning ways next week!
