The 3s made the short trip down south to play Sunderland Broom on a wet and wild Saturday.
Thankfully the weather improved dramatically and we started well.
In a starkly different team from last week's (in which we had an emphatic 8-0 victory), we continued to move the ball around confidently.
Sadly, we conceded a goal from a deflection - prompting the threat of our heads dropping.
But we are made of stronger stuff than that and pressed on.
As half time approached, we drove forward and narrowly missed getting a shot away.
The second half got going and sadly the red team of Sunderland sneaked in a quick second goal.
With George confident at the back, Nick strong in midfield and Grant keeping us focused at the front, we continued to have moments of solid play.
Despite two on-pitch knock outs (we stepped up and carried on though), the 3s kept strong at the back and continued to pose occasional threats up front.
Rory marked the day with a green card. He received it for perhaps the hardest stick tackle of the year. The reverberations were probably heard in Newcastle.
We only had 11 players, but we acquitted ourselves well.
The game finished with a few more flurries of promise from JPC, and although it finished 2-0, we can be proud of the match we played.
